Construction work is now well under way at the site in Penllergaer. Penllergare Valley Woods is a highly significant Victorian designed landscape located on the edge of Swansea. The Valley constitutes what remains of the unique picturesque landscape created by the Llewelyn family, notably John Dillwyn Llewelyn (1810-82), which exploited the natural topography on a grand scale. The landscape has survived, albeit in a severely neglected state, and today it is a popular green space for quiet recreation and enjoyment by local people. It is slowly being brought back into management by a group of volunteers, trainees and Penllergare Trust staff with funding from WEFO and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
